AbstractTHEMIS (Time History of Events and Macroscale Interactions during Substorms) is a project aimed at understanding the substorm process. The THEMIS ASI array delivers real-time auroral images every six seconds via the internet. These images are merged together to form mosaics, which provide a synoptic view of what the array “sees” in real-time. Further THEMIS data, such as field and plasma observations of the solar wind, magnetosheath, and magnetosphere, as well as observations of aurora and corresponding magnetic field perturbations over northern North America, are available through the parner THEMIS-Berkeley site.
